(April 2021) Request for number of times Buncombe County, NC Sheriffs Deputies discharged firearms at people 01/01/20 – 04/12/21
Hello Buncombe County, NC Sherrif's Office (Records Officer),
I'd like to make a public records request for the following information under NC Public Records Law, in regards to Buncombe County Sheriff Deputy firearms discharges from 01/01/2020 - 04/12/2021.
To be clear, I am only asking for the following information about guns which were actually fired at people. You do not need to include when Deputies discharged weapons to put animals down, or times that Deputies discharged weapons for training purposes:
A) Please provide the total number of times Buncombe County Sheriffs Deputies fired their guns at people from January 01, 2020 to April 12, 2021.
B) Please provide the total number of times that Buncombe County Sheriffs Deputies fired their guns at people from January 01, 2020 to April 12, 2021, which resulted in a death or hospitalization.
** Note: For all items requested above, please do not include additional details such as name, address, case number, or any other personally identifiable information about possible victims.

The answer to both A and B is one time and to be clear, it was the same incident involving an active shooter outside the Buncombe County Courthouse on March 31, 2020.
A) Please provide the total number of times Buncombe County Sheriffs Deputies fired their guns at people from January 01, 2020 to April 12, 2021.
B) Please provide the total number of times that Buncombe County Sheriffs Deputies fired their guns at people from January 01, 2020 to April 12, 2021, which resulted in a death or hospitalization.
