Good evening Records Officer / Custodian(s) of these Records,
Please reply promptly to the following public records request, which I’m making in accordance with NC Public Records Law. https://www.ncleg.net/enactedlegislation/statutes/html/bychapter/chapter_132.html
Please provide the names and salaries of all Gaston County, NC employees as of March 27, 2026. I consider the term “employee” to apply to any full or part time employee, staff, board or council member, manager, elected official, etc. Please include the following:
A. First / Last name
B. Position / title / department
C. Date of hire
D. Salary [include hourly wage, hourly rate, or annual salary -- whichever payment structure is applicable to the employee]
To clarify – this request is not limited to “current employees” who happen to have also been working at the end of March. I'm looking for a list of all people who were employees on March 27.
Ideally, I’d like to receive the responsive records in an Excel or other machine-readable format.
** I’m simply requesting an electronic copy of an electronic record, if one exists. I’m NOT asking for the opportunity to come in person to “inspect”, nor to obtain a printed copy of, this electronic record. I’m requesting explicitly that any responsive info be provided to me via the electronic medium / electronic format (in which the copy of this record already exists). If you are unable to fulfill any or all parts of this request, please specifically cite where a reason for denial is justified under NC Public Records Law. **

**Editor’s Note: The following request was actually submitted to Gaston County, NC on 04/16/26 @ 5:31pm EST via (what appears to be) a new online records request form on their website. There were various “steps” we navigated through, and completed (including, verifying our email), in order to submit the request. Once submitted, the message received says we’re on: “Step 2 of 4” — “Pending Review by Gaston County” — “Waiting for completion by Communications”.
We’ve never used a form exactly like this one, and so will follow up with the County in 1 week if we do not receive a response. Any further updates we receive, will be posted here on our site.
