(August 2019) Request for BCS class numbers and specialist information through 09/28/19

Hello Buncombe County Schools,

Now that the 10 day count is over, I would like to make a public records request for the following:

1. I would like to know the average number of students in each grade level, at every elementary school in the county.

For example:

" Pisgah
k - average per teacher 13
1 - average per teacher 20 "

2. I would also like to know the total number of students at each school AND the number of specialist teachers (PE, Art, Music, Media) they are provided (please include the number of days if they are only part time).

    That sounds good- Please post the documents I have previously provided with a note requesting that clarification.

     

    I am happy to provide the documents they’ve asked for, but I can’t provide reports without clear direction and without knowing definitively if the data is what the requestor wants. Please also make a note that the requestor is welcome to contact my office directly to clarify the data that they are seeking.

    The requests on our site are sent to us anonymously. We do not have additional details to provide about the requests, other than what we receive from the sender. We will note your request for clarification on our site.

     

    If the original sender wishes to submit a new request and provide us with additional clarification at some point, we’ll be happy to send in the request at that time!

    In order to continue processing the request, we will interpret on the sender’s behalf that “specialist teachers” should refer to any staff positions that would classify as “a specialist” (Ex: AIG specialist, other curriculum specialists etc.) and any positions related to a “specials” class (Ex: PE, Art, Music, Gardening).

     

    We believe that “media” should refer to a school’s “media specialist”.

    Hi there-
    Attached is our ADM report.
    We don’t maintain any documents regarding average number of students per grade.
    Also, please note that I need clarification on which specialist teachers this requestor is referring to. Only PE, Art, Music? And by ‘media’ do they mean ‘media specialist’?
