    Dear Sunshine Request:
This request is being processed. It is not in a queue because it does not contain a request for emails. I do know that the appropriate person(s) are working on this. The city is trying to determine all records responsive to this request, which is very broad – the city’s stormwater controls are many. I will forward you any responsive requests once processing is complete. In the meantime, please let me know if you have other questions.

    Good afternoon City of Asheville,

We’ve received a new public records request via our website for information that may be available in your office. We originally sent this request to Buncombe County Government who then told us to email the Metropolitan Sewerage District of Buncombe County. Upon doing that we were told by them: “If your request is stormwater based, then I will refer you to City of Asheville, who I believe is the authority in charge.”

Please confirm receipt to let us know the request will begin processing, and if possible, please provide a rough estimate of when the request may be completed. We will plan on following up again around that time.

Here are the details of the request:

Subject: (August 2020) Request for “Stormwater controls” in Buncombe County, NC as of 08/16/20

Message: “Hello Metropolitan Sewage District of Buncombe County,

    Good afternoon Corey,

    Thank you for your reply.

As we are an anonymous public records site, we do not have any additional information about the request to provide at this time, other than what we received initially. We will reach out to the City for assistance.

    Have a good day,
    Sunshine Request

    Hello,

If your request is stormwater based, then I will refer you to City of Asheville, who I believe is the authority in charge. We do not have mixed sanitary and stormwater infrastructure.

If your question is sanitary sewer-based, very particularly with regards to availability, there are some issues with regards to accuracy and how the information is being used that would be of concern. Notably, the data shouldn’t be considered survey grade, just an inventory. Our data is public, but there are many questions/answers that could vary with interpretation that make that sort of request preferable to be directed to our permit staff on a case-by-case basis as misinterpretations can prove costly, especially when it is used during the due diligence phase of a property sale.

You can view our public webgis site at https://geo.msdbc.org/msdgisviewer/.

If you wish to pursue this matter further, please provide a point of contact (i.e. name and phone) and I will consult with the appropriate individuals within my organization.

    Thanks,

Good afternoon Metropolitan Sewerage District of Buncombe County,

I work for a website called Sunshine Request www.sunshinerequest.com. We built a site that makes it easier to make public records requests by filling out a simple form, and the results of any requests are posted on our site. This allows citizens to learn more about our local government, while saving staff from having to fulfill duplicate requests. If you have any questions about the project, please let me know, and I’ll be happy to answer.
