04/26/19 Editor’s Note to Sender: We also received a similar request to the above today called “Hope For The Future Grant”.
Message: “Buncombe County DSS has a third party that provides guardianship services to individuals who have been deemed incompetent by the court system. I have been unable to find what this contract is worth and they have been the sole provider of this service for several years.”
In order to avoid duplication of requests, we have marked that request as “Complete”, and it will be merged with the original request (at top) called “Buncombe County DSS Contracts”.
Additionally, as it was originally written, the request (at top) contains more of a statement/intention of the request than a clear request for info. We’ve done our best to revise for clarity, and also merge both requests. Message: “Buncombe County DSS has a third party that provides guardianship services to individuals who have been deemed incompetent by the court system. Rather than acting as guardians, like some other counties do, Buncombe County contracts with local agency Hope for the Future for guardianship services. I have been unable to find what this contract is worth, and they have been the sole provider of this service for several years.
I would like to make a request to see the current contract between Buncombe County and Hope for the Future. If it is not clearly written within the contract, I would also like to know how much Buncombe County pays for this, as well as what services Buncombe County and Hope for the Future are supposed to provide.
