Buncombe County Schools (leave requests)

Hello,

On May 16, 2018, Buncombe County Schools closed under an optional teacher workday. The administration cited the reason as a large number of leave requests in anticipation of a rally in Raleigh on that date. I would like a copy of the system’s personnel policy regarding leave requests, as well as the number of employees that received leave on that date. I would prefer the numbers be broken down by school, but if it is too cumbersome to do so, a total list of numbers will be acceptable.

    Thank you for your email regarding leave requests. On May 16, 2018. 1,668 employees out of 3,773 permanent employees used leave. The types of leave used included annual leave, personal leave, sick leave, and leave without pay. Attached is the Board of Education policy regarding leave.
