Hello Buncombe County, NC Sheriffs Office,

I'd like to make a three part, public records request for the following information. Please provide the most responsive records as of 12/22/2020 (or the date the query is performed):

Please provide all current BCSO employee names, salaries, positions and titles, including Detention, Civilian, Narcotics, as of 12/22/2020 (or the date the query is performed). I will assume that certain employees will need to be redacted due to their position. Please include:

A. Name, Rank, and Salary

B. Current command structure within the agency.

For example:
Alex Doe - Chief Deputy(s)
Bob Doe - Major(s)/ Enforcement/ Detention (pay)
Casey Doe - Captain(s) Patrol/Detention (pay)
David Doe - Captain(s) Criminal Investigations (pay)

    I am going to answer this request in parts as I get the info. Here are the answers for Part 3.

     

    A. How many vehicles are assigned to the Sheriffs Office?

     

    As of 1/5/2021, there are 285 vehicles assigned to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office.

     

    B. How many new vehicles have been either ordered or are in service?

     

    As of 1/5/2021, there are 28 new vehicles on order and there are 43 new vehicles in service that are model year 2020 or 2021.

     

    C. What type of “Patrol unit” has been ordered and how many? Are all the vehicles marked units?

     

    As of 1/5/2021, the following vehicles are on order:

     

    3 – 2021 RAM 1500 Pickup truck

    25 – 2021 Ford Explorer – Hybrid

     

    We have a number of unmarked vehicles in the Sheriff’s Office fleet, we are not going to detail the specifics of those vehicles.

     

    D. What is the projected number of vehicles to be purchased for FY20/21?

     

    As of 1/25/2021, the projected number of vehicles to be purchased in FY21 that will be assigned to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office is 28.
