Your request involves a great deal of documents and your request also ask for a lot of non-responsive documents. We will attempt to work to get you all of your requested documents as soon as possible but we need to take care of a few matters.
As provided by O.C.G.A. § 50-18-71(c) (1), there is no charge for the first 15 minutes of staff time utilized to search for, retrieve, redact’, and produce or copy the requested records, but the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office will charge “the prorated hourly salary of the lowest paid full-time employee who, in the reasonable discretion of the [Clayton County Sheriff’s Office], has the necessary skill and training to perform the request”. O.C.G.A. § 50-18-71(c) (1). In this case, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office estimates the search and retrieval of records pertaining to your request will take 10 hour (minus the first 15 minutes) at the rate of $27.57 per hour. The search and review of the documents you requested will result in an estimated total cost of no less than $_275.70_.
In the event that you choose to receive printed copies of all or a portion of the responsive records, a charge of $0.10 per page for letter or legal size documents will apply as authorized by O.C.G.A. §50-18-71(c)(2). Because the County’s estimated costs are in excess of the $25.00 threshold set by the Act, the County is deferring review and retrieval of the records until you agree to pay the estimated costs. O.C.G.A. § 50-18-71(d).
Please note that the above estimates of time and costs are subject to revision (including potentially increasing or decreasing the estimated amounts and lengthening the time for production) depending upon the actual time spent searching for, retrieving, reviewing, and redacting the records as well as the actual number of pages of records retrieved. Additionally, should you choose to proceed, the charges associated with the staff time necessary to process your request will be due whether or not you elect to retain copies of the responsive records or continue to pursue your request.
