Domestic Violence statistics
It is my understanding that the Buncombe county District Attorney keeps track of how domestic violence cases are handled. As Domestic violence is a serious issue in our community, I would like to know conviction rate, number of cases dismissed and reasons for the case being dismissed.

Good Afternoon Mr. Williams,
Michael C. Frue (BC Senior Staff Attorney) has advised that I should contact you at this email address for assistance with the following request:
I work for a website called Sunshine Request www.
sunshinerequest.com. We built a site that makes it easier to make public records requests by filling out a simple form, and the results of any requests are posted on our site. This allows citizens to learn more about our local government, while saving staff from having to fulfill duplicate requests. If you have any questions about the project, please send me an email back. We recently received a request for information that Buncombe County Gov. advises may be available in your office, via SunshineRequest.com! Could you also please point me in the right direction for where to send future requests we receive that are related to publicly accessible information in your office?
Here is the information sent by the requester –
Subject: “Domestic Violence statistics”
Message:
“It is my understanding that the Buncombe county District Attorney keeps track of how domestic violence cases are handled. As Domestic violence is a serious issue in our community, I would like to know conviction rate, number of cases dismissed and reasons for the case being dismissed.”
** Please note that the requester has filled out a field on our site indicating that the request should also cover the time period of January 1, 2015 – October 28, 2017.
Thank you for your help.
Have a great afternoon!Sunshine Request

Hi Michael,
Happy Monday!Thank you again for your continued assistance with all these Sunshine Requests we’ve been receiving lately. We’ve just received another new request related to Buncombe County, and I wonder if you can point me in the right direction of who may be the best person (and email address) to contact about the request – If you’re able to assist, that’s great! Otherwise, I can reach out to the relevant party myself. The Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office doesn’t seem to have any email contact listed on their website. While they do have a phone # listed, and I’m happy to call whomever if necessary, I typically prefer to keep the Sunshine communications in an easily recorded email format to be shared on our site.Subject: “Domestic Violence statistics”Message:“It is my understanding that the Buncombe county District Attorney keeps track of how domestic violence cases are handled.
