  The District Attorney’s office is not in possession of any public records responsive to this request. However, this is because the political campaign is, by law, not a part of transacting public business as the elected District Attorney and thus does not meet the statutory definition of public record. In fact, the law intends for all campaign activity to be kept completely separate from exercising the public duties of the office.

   

  However, all campaigns have mandatory reporting requirements regarding the requested information that are imposed by state law and the Board of Elections. The District Attorney is in full compliance with all such requirements. As such, the requested information should be available by going to the NC Board of Elections website and following the directions to access the public filings.
