(February 2024) Request for City of Northwest, NC Government: Current listing of all active City Ordinances, as of the present day.

Good afternoon Donna, Mayor, and Sheila, (or Records Officer / Custodian(s) of these records),

Please reply promptly to the following public records request, which I’m making in accordance with NC Public Records Law. https://www.ncleg.net/enactedlegislation/statutes/html/bychapter/chapter_132.html

Please provide a listing of all active City Ordinances for the City of Northwest, NC as of the present day. If any / all of this info is already publicly available online, please provide a link to where it can be accessed.


Please note that I’ve already checked the City’s website to see if I can locate the requested info there. I cannot. I also performed a Google search to see if the ordinances are already on Municode (a site that lists ordinances / codes). The City of Northwest doesn’t seem to have a page on that site, but Brunswick County does: https://library.municode.com/nc/brunswick_county/codes/code_of_ordinances

** I’m simply requesting an electronic copy of an electronic record, if one exists. I am NOT asking for the opportunity to come in person to "inspect", nor to obtain a printed copy of, this electronic record. I’m requesting explicitly that any responsive info be provided to me via the electronic medium / electronic format (in which the copy of this record should already exist and is available to you). If you are unable to fulfill any or all parts of this request, please specifically cite where a reason for denial is justified under NC Public Records Law.**

    Thanks for your reply, and for clarifying what email addresses I should use to contact in the future — as that info is not currently on your website.

     

    I understand your message to mean that the requested ordinances are in hard copy only, are not digitized yet, and are also not online. I do not need scanned and printed copies of these records. Therefore, you can consider my request as now having been “Completed”. No further action is needed.

    I’m currently on vacation but I thought I would respond, as I was checking my emails.

    We do not currently have our Ordinances online. We will be scanning and putting them online as soon as possible. If you would like us to make copies and send to you, let me know and I will let you know what the cost will be.

     

    Also, please do not use the email [email protected]. That is a personal email and you will not get a response from that email. Also, please remove [email protected], that email is no longer valid, and you will not get a response from that email.

    The newly elected Mayor’s email is [email protected], please use that email for contacting Mayor Grady.
