In regard to the Alexander County [Taylorsville], NC Board of Education.
A. Please provide a list of all current Salaries & Benefits for each board members, as of the present day (on the date the query is performed). Please include the following:
- First / Last name
- Annual salary
- Any additional funds paid to board members for attending meetings or school-related functions
- Travel allowance
- Cell phone or internet stipend
- All other benefits such as health/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, contributions to 401k or state retirement provided by the school system, etc.
B. Additionally, please provide the date of the last approved “salary increase” for the Board of Education.

Caryn Brzykcy does not get paid as a board member. She is a member of our board attorney’s firm which has a contract.
The board members have not had a raise since January 16th, 2020.
The board members Josh Dagenhart, Jesse Bowles, Robert Arguelles, Anthony McLain, Corey McLain, Shannon Oxentine, Matthew Reese receive $7,800 as a salary plus any special event payments including school visits and special called meetings.

The Alexander County Board of Education is committed to providing access to public records and public information. All employees shall comply with the public records law and this policy.
The official records of students are not public records subject to inspection and examination. (For further information regarding the release of information about students, see policy 4700, Student Records.)
Information in school system employee personnel files is protected from disclosure in accordance with G.S. 115C-319, except specific employee information identified in policy 5070/7350 Public Records – Retention, Release, and Disposition.
Although electronic mail lists may be viewed at the central office by appointment, electronic nor paper copies will be provided as a public record request.
All requests for examining or obtaining copies of public records should be in writing or recorded by school system personnel. This policy, administrative guidelines, information on the actual cost of producing public records, information on how to reach the records officer, information about how to appeal a denial of a public records request and information regarding any computer database indexes must be made available to individuals requesting public records.
Policy Code: 5070/7350 PUBLIC RECORDS – RETENTION, RELEASE, AND DISPOSITION
WE WILL CHARGE A FEE FOR PHOTOCOPIES. The rate is five-cents per page black ink and fifteen cents per color copy. A check or correct change will be required at the time of pick up.
PLEASE NOTE – Requests for transcripts are handled in the counseling department of the high school. Please contact them directly at 828.632.7063. Transcript requests submitted through this form will not be forwarded.
