(January 2022) Request for Jackson County, NC Gov: Communications related to public records requests policies and procedures 01/01/21 – 08/27/21

Hi Jackson County, NC Government (Records Officer),

I'd like to make a public records request for the following information under NC Public Records Law
Ref: https://www.ncleg.net/enactedlegislation/statutes/html/bychapter/chapter_132.html

Related to Jackson County, NC Public records requests policy / policies, and “denied” public record requests --

Please provide all emails and other forms of communication (emails, text, phone, etc.) sent to, sent from, and sent between, the County Manager, County Attorney, HR Director, and Chairman of the Jackson County Board of Commissioners (and any subset of that group) during the specific time period of January 01, 2021 through August 27, 2021.

Specifically, as relates to the following topics only:

- The Jackson County public records request policy (and policies).
- Lack of responsiveness to public records requests.
- Directions to staff indicating a response is not necessary for public records requests.
- Denial of public records requests.

Please provide the emails in a .PDF format so that they can easily be opened / viewed.
————

As relates to emails – please provide any .pdfs, other files, attachments, videos, hyperlinks, etc. that are indicated or referenced within the responsive records. For example: A .pdf that is an attachment within an email, should also be provided as a file along with the responsive emails. Or, a link should be provided so that the file can be opened.

If the records are ultimately too large to send via emailed file share, I'd ask that you please create a public Google Drive folder / link or some other file format to transfer the files electronically.

** If you are unable to fulfill any or all parts of this request, please specifically cite where a reason for denial is justified under NC public records law. **

Thank you for your assistance!
