  Hello North Carolina State Highway Patrol and NC DPS (Records Officer),

   

  I’d like to make a public records request for information that may be available in your office.

   

  If you’re not the appropriate party to contact about the request, please provide the correct name and email address of whom I should send it to.

   

  Please confirm receipt to let me know the request will begin processing, and if possible, please provide a rough estimate of when the request may be completed. I will plan on following up again in February if I have not heard back before then.

   

  Here are the details of the request:

   

  Subject: (January 2023) Multi-part request for NC State Highway Patrol or NC DPS: Any employee promotions, demotions, transfers, or dismissals. 01/01/1990 – 01/06/2023.

   

  Message: “Hello North Carolina State Highway Patrol and NC DPS (Records Officer),

   

  I’d like to make a multi-part public records request for the following information under NC Public Records Law
  Ref: https://www.ncleg.net/enactedlegislation/statutes/html/bychapter/chapter_132.html

   

  In compliance with NCGS 160A-168 and 132-6, I’d like to ask that you please provide the following information in regard to former patrolman Chris Pogue since the date of his hiring [I’m guessing what that date range is, but the records requested should cover the specific time period of 01/01/1990 through 01/06/2023] :

   

  1) If such records exist: Please provide the Date and Type of each promotion, demotion, transfer, suspension, separation, or other change in position classification with that municipality.
  2) If such records exist: Please provide the Date and general Description of the reasons for each promotion with that municipality.
  3) If such records exist: Please provide the Date and Type of each dismissal, suspension, or demotion for disciplinary reasons taken by the municipality.

   

  Please Note: I am not requesting to come in person to inspect, nor to obtain printed copies of, electronic records. In accordance with NC Public Records Law, I’m requesting explicitly that all responsive records be provided via an electronic medium / format (in which the records should already exist), such as an email, file share, google drive folder, mailed flash drive if necessary, etc.

   

  **I know that it should be possible to fulfill a records request like this one, as many other entities in North Carolina have already done so. However, if you are unable to fulfill any or all parts of this request, please specifically cite where a reason for denial is justified under NC Public Records Law.**
