subject: Re: Records Request: [July 2019] Additional request for Buncombe Sheriff Vehicle ExpensesHello Sunshine Requests,
Please see the four attached PDFs relating to Sheriff Miller’s vehicle.
Since there are some overlapping requests on this topic, I wanted to provide some additional context
for clarity purposes.Sheriff Miller’s vehicle, in addition to any and all custom items – police lights, police radio, window tinting, wheels, tires – are paid for with taxpayer money.
Their have been some questions in other public records requests about why Sheriff Miller wanted specific items his vehicle. I did ask him about the wheels and tires on his vehicle
in order to fulfill this request. He simply said that he wants it to look like an unmarked vehicle. The Chevy Tahoe he drives does not have any markings on it
that indicate it is a law enforcement vehicle, it is an unmarked vehicle. If this answer regarding taxpayer funds or custom items is not satisfactory, then I would encourage the questioner to attend one of the Sheriff’s listening sessions or community meetings
where there will be the opportunity to ask the Sheriff directly. You can also contact him at 828-250-4474.This previous request also provides some specific info on the cost of the Chevy Tahoe that Sheriff Miller drives as well:

Thank you for these updates, and thank you for offering to send in the follow up request! At this point since we’ve already communicated the procedural info about the follow up to the users on our site, we’d like to hold off sending it in until these original requests related to vehicles are completed. Additionally, the info we get back on these original vehicle requests may also hopefully answer some questions that relate to the follow up request.
We really appreciate all your help!

I have asked General Services for any invoices they have relating to Sheriff Miller’s vehicle and am waiting to hear back.
We’ll see what they come back with – multiple vehicles, police radios, etc. are often ordered at once, so we may not be able to match up invoices with his vehicle one for one if that makes sense. For instance we have multiple Chevy Tahoe’s in our fleet, the Sheriff isn’t the only person driving a Tahoe, but he might be the only one with a 2019.
Please feel free to send the follow-up request as you see fit. A lot of these requests regarding Sheriff Miller’s vehicle are overlapping …
All the best,
AaronAaron Sarver
