    Dear Sunshine Request:
I apologize for not getting back to you on this in July.
It would be helpful if the requester could narrow the type of information they are seeking or a particular topic or topics.

    Good afternoon Terry,

Thank you for making us aware of the possible charges.

It would be helpful if you could let us know any guidance on a timeframe or other aspect of the request that could be revised to help “narrow” the scope. We’ll note whatever information you send on our site, should the sender wish to resubmit the request in the future.

Once we hear back, we will close out this request and mark as completed since we cannot commit to covering any fees/cost related to requests sent though our site. Thank you again for letting us know there could be a cost incurred, we will have all of this information on our site for the sender so that they can reach out to the city directly should they wish to pursue this information further.

    Have a good day,
    Sunshine Request

    Dear Sunshine Request:
This is a very large request and will require the review of thousands of emails and text messages. It will save time and resources, and allow for quicker production, if the requester can narrow the scope of the search. I understand that your requesters are anonymous, but the city will wait to initiate this search until the requester determines if he or she wishes to narrow the search.
Since this request will require extensive use of information technology resources, if the requester does not want to narrow the search then the city, pursuant to N.C.G.S. §132-6.2(b), will charge a special service charge based on the actual cost of the information technology and staff resource time actually incurred. The charge will have to be paid prior to the release of the records.
Please let me know once you hear from the requester.

We’ve received a new public records request via our website www.sunshinerequest.com for information that may be available in your office.

We will plan on following up again around that time. We will note on our site the statement you recently gave about how “If any of the records are located in city hall, rather than electronically, they will not be found until city employees return to city hall to work.”

Here are the details of the request:
