I acknowledge that with the end of the school year approaching, you are likely very busy at the moment.
However, please reply promptly to the following public records request, which is being made in accordance with NC Public Records Law.

** I’m simply requesting an electronic copy of an electronic record, if one exists. I’m NOT asking for the opportunity to come in person to "inspect", nor to obtain a printed copy of, this electronic record. I’m requesting explicitly that any responsive info be provided to me via an electronic medium / format (in which the copy of this record should already exist).
I do not have any additional or further clarifying info I wish to provide to narrow this request. If it is unclear or if you are unable to fulfill any or all parts of this request, please specifically cite where a reason for denial is justified under NC Public Records Law. **
Please provide a list of ALL current Person County, NC schools Employees / Staff and their Salaries [including pay differentials], as of 05/31/2023 or present day (date the query is performed). Please include the following:
1) Employee’s first / last name.
2) Employee’s current job position / title / department.
3) Employee’s date of hire.
4) Current salary (including hourly wage, hourly rate, or salary -- whichever is applicable.)
5) Any salary or pay “differentials” for that employee.
Ideally, I’d like to receive the responsive records in an Excel or other machine-readable format, if possible.
If any / all of this info is already publicly available online, please provide a link to where it can be accessed.

Thank you for asking.
The research I’ve done online leads me to believe that “differential pay” for NC school employees includes things like pay for “National Board for Professional Teaching (NBPTS) certifications”, “hard to teach subjects”, “pay by subject area”, “additional duties”, differential pay for military duty, salary increases for years of experience, tuition subsidies for existing teachers changing fields, student loan forgiveness.
I hope that answers your question.
Another way I can try to answer this, is by showing you an example of the exact same request I recently made to Granville County, NC Schools:
In this case they didn’t ask for clarification about “differentials”. They simply noted them where applicable for each employee within the spreadsheet… and also listed abbreviations for the “Type of Pay”. The spreadsheet file called ” Public-Records-Request-Granville-Salaries-Sheet2.pdf ” at the top left of that web page will show you what I mean. For example: If you search for the employee named Henderson, Lynn. In addition to the row showing their regular salary, there is another one below that says “SALARY DIFFERENTIAL 12” , “S” , “$450.00”.
I wish I could provide additional clarification, but I do not have any. If this aspect of my request is unclear or if you are unable to fulfill any or all parts of the request, please specifically cite where a reason for denial is justified under NC Public Records Law.
