(November 2022) Multi-part request for City of Gastonia, NC Government: “Electric vehicle charging stations” info. 01/01/22 – 11/16/22.

Hello City of Gastonia, NC Government (Records Officer),

I’d like to make a multi-part public records request for the following information under NC Public Records Law
Ref: https://www.ncleg.net/enactedlegislation/statutes/html/bychapter/chapter_132.html

This request is related to “Electric vehicle charging stations”. All responsive records requested should include the specific time period of 01/01/2022 through 11/16/2022.

A1) Please provide the total number of “public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations” the City of Gastonia, NC has paid for in Gaston County, NC.
A2) Please provide the installation cost of each of these stations.
A3) I’d also like to know what, if any, money has been spent on maintaining, and using, these stations. During the time period requested.

B1) Please provide the total number of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations that are “free to use” to the public.
B2) Please provide the total amount of money the City of Gastonia has spent on “free charging stations”. During the time period requested.

C) Please provide the total number of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations that are “pay per use”.

D1) I’d also like to know whether tax money is spent to subsidize these “pay per use” fees. If so, how much? During the time period requested.
D2) I’d also like to know how much total taxpayer money has been spent on the entire program. During the time period requested.

    The City of Gastonia has (12) Level 2 charging stations with a total of (17) ports, all installed prior to the requested time period. The energy consumed during the specified timeframe is roughly 15MWh. The wholesale cost to the City is $0.0321 per kWh. All City EV Charging stations are maintained by the City of Gastonia Electric Division staff with no invoiced chargeback.

     

    B1) Please provide the total number of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations that are “free to use” to the public.

     

    All stations maintained by the City of Gastonia are “free to use”.

     

    (9) ChargePoint Level 2 EV Stations with a total of (14) ports

    (3) GE Level 2 EV Station with a total of (3) ports

     

    B2) Please provide the total amount of money the City of Gastonia has spent on “free charging stations”. During the time period requested.
