Thank you for your reply.
I’d like to clarify that NC Public Records Law allows you to charge a requester for the “actual costs” of copying the records if they’re requesting printouts. However, it does not allow for requesters to be charged “per page” for an electronic record.

I’m not requesting and do not want physical copies of a list of full-time and part-time Alexander County employees and their positions / salaries. I’m also not asking for the records to be provided in a medium in which they do not already exist.
I have requested what I believe should be electronic records, which you should be able to provide electronically.
You are allowed to charge a reasonable fee for the cost of gathering the electronic records — which would be an hourly fee.
Please provide a quote for that service, as well as a copy or link to Alexander County’s current Public Records Request Policy. At that time, I will indicate to the requester on our website that if they wish to pursue the request further they can reach out to your office directly.

That said — Please note that I cannot commit to pay any fees / associated costs related to any requests on our site. If it is not possible to process the request without incurring fees, please let me know the potential cost, and I will ask that you cease processing the request at that time. I will mark the request as “Completed” on our site.”
We’ll make one more attempt to follow up in one week, and if at that point we still haven’t heard back I will go ahead and mark this request as denied. If at any point in the future once the request has been marked as denied you wish to reply, we will reopen at that time.
