** I’m simply requesting an electronic copy of an electronic record, if one exists. I’m NOT asking for the opportunity to come in person to "inspect", nor to obtain a printed copy of, this electronic record. I’m requesting explicitly that any responsive info be provided to me via the electronic medium / electronic format (in which the copy of this record should already exist).
If the request is unclear, or if you are unable to fulfill any or all parts of this request, please specifically cite where a reason for denial is justified under NC Public Records Law.**
This is a multi-part request related to all County employee salaries, as well as salaries / info about employees receiving travel or vehicle allowances.
A. Please provide the names and salaries of ALL Alexander County, NC Employees as of 10/04/23 or present day (on the date the query is performed). Please include the following:
1) Employee first / last name
2) Position / title / department
3) Salary [including hourly wage, hourly rate, or salary -- whichever payment structure is applicable to the employee]
B. Please provide the names, salaries, and amounts of allowances, for all County employees that receive any travel and/or vehicle allowances. As of 10/04/23 or present day (on the date the query is performed). Please include the following:
1) Employee first / last name
2) Position / title / department
3) Salary [including hourly wage, hourly rate, or salary -- whichever payment structure is applicable to the employee]
4) Type and amount of Travel and/or Vehicle allowance received on a monthly or yearly basis [whichever structure applies].
Ideally, I’d like to receive these records in an Excel or machine-readable format. If any / all of this info is already publicly available online, please provide a link to where it can be accessed.

The file is updated with three worksheets – one with employee salaries, the second with vehicle allowances, and the third with travel reimbursements received 07/01/2023 to 10/6/23.
To clarify your first question, the vehicle allowance is monthly stipend paid to an employee for the cost of using a personal motor vehicle for work purposes. It is intended to cover typical costs of maintenance, fuel, and general wear-and-tear.
The third tab addresses your question regarding travel expenses.

Item # B.4. of the request calls for “Type and amount of Travel and/or Vehicle allowance received on a monthly or yearly basis [whichever structure applies].”
– First:
Worksheet page 2 shows me “Vehicle allowance” only. I interpret vehicle allowance to mean costs to cover “gas” and “travel incidentals”, only. Is that correct? If there is some other type of expenditure accounted for within a “vehicle allowance”, please specify what that may be.– Second:
There is no other language or worksheet provided that specifies any “Travel allowances.” If this aspect of my request was unclear, I apologize. When I say “travel”, I mean “compensation provided to cover employee travel expenses (incurred while traveling for business purposes).” For example: Transportation, lodging, meals, and other incidentals while on the job. If this type of expense is the same / overlapping cost as what was already provided via the “Vehicle allowance” tab, please let me know.Thank you!
