Editor’s Note 01/07/20: We received 5 separate requests all for nearly identical information (as the original request above). In order to simplify our process, and to avoid duplicating requests, we have combined the 5 new submissions, and have merged them into one, multi-part request (see below).

Additionally – The original submissions have been revised for some clarity. The request we send to City of Asheville, NC Gov will read as follows:

“Hi City of Asheville, NC Government,

I’d like to make a public records request for the following information:

A. Please provide a COVID Bonus list for City of Asheville Employees.

Specifically, I’d like a list of all City employees and staff who received a “one time Covid-19 hazard pay bonus”, “COVID hazard pay bonus”, “COVID-19 bonus”, or “COVID bonus”, during the specific time period of 12/15/20 through 01/30/21 (or the date the query is performed).

Please include:

Name of recipient
Department the recipient works in
Amount of the recipient’s bonus/award

B. I’d also like to know any Metrics used to determine which staff from each department qualified for the bonus, if metrics were used.

C. I’d also like to know if an equity analysis was applied or an inclusive lens was used by City leadership and/or department directors to determine who qualified for bonus pay and who would be excluded.
