Good afternoon Nash County, NC Government and Nash County, NC Schools,
I’d like to make a public records request for information that may be available in your office.
Please confirm receipt to let me know the request will begin processing, and if possible, please provide a rough estimate of when the request may be completed. We acknowledge and are sensitive to the fact that you’re likely extra busy due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But if possible, if you could please provide a rough timeline as to when the request may be completed, we’ll wait to follow up again until around the time period you specify.

Subject: (September 2021) Request related to repayments made to taxpayers of “unallowed” and “questionable” expenses by Nash County, NC Superintendent of Schools
Message: “Hello Nash County, NC Government (Records Officer) and Nash County, NC Schools (Records Officer CCed),
I’d like to make a multi-part public records request for the following information under NC Public Records Law.
If either of you are not the appropriate contact to whom I should make the request for these type of records, please provide me with the correct name and email address of the proper government entity to which I should make this public records request.
If this information is already publicly available online or some other public format, please send me a link:
A) Please provide the financial records (broken down by amounts paid and dates received) showing payment made by Shelton Jeffries to Nash County Schools of any of the $45,690 found in the State Auditor’s Office report of June 2021 to be “unallowed” and “questionable” expenses.
B) Please provide any correspondence (email, texts, social media messages etc), between Shelton Jeffries and Nash County Schools about the repayment to the taxpayers of “unallowed” and “questionable” expenses. The responsive records requested should specifically include the time period between the start of Shelton Jeffries’ employment as Nash County Schools Superintendent [in January 2016], and as of the date this query is performed.
For the requested items above, please provide all .pdfs, files, attachments, videos, hyperlinks, emails, time keeping minutes, etc. that are indicated within the responsive records. For example: A .pdf that is an attachment within an email, should also be provided as a document along with the responsive emails.
Please include all of those additional documents where applicable, as relates to the requested information above.
If the records are ultimately too large to send via emailed file share, I’d ask that you please create a public Google Drive folder / link or some other file format to transfer the files electronically.
