(September 2022) Request for City of Asheville, NC Government: Emails to and from Staff and Council on 09/27/22. Related to termination of persons in the Public Safety Committee meeting caller queue.

Hello City of Asheville, NC Government (Records Officer),

I'd like to make a public records request for the following information under NC Public Records Law.

Related to the September 27, 2022 Public Safety Committee (PSC) Meeting.

Please provide all emails Sent To and Sent From any/all COA staff and any/all City Council Members on the date of 09/27/22. Specifically – as pertains to the subject matter related to termination of persons in queue to call into the 09/27 Public Safety (PSC) Committee Meeting.

I am not requesting to come in person to inspect, nor to obtain printed copies of, electronic records. subject: status of requests is email search queue

    Good morning, Sunshine Request,

I received your messages inquiring about the status of your requests that are in the City of Asheville Email Search Queue, and I wanted to let you know what’s going on.

As you know, public records requests for emails are processed in the order received, as we have found that to be the most fair and equitable way to fulfill these requests. However there are rare occurrences in which I am tasked with pulling emails for separate matters outside of public records requests, such as judicially mandated litigation matters. In these cases, there is no flexibility over the deadlines given by the Court and these pulls therefore have to take priority. That is what has happened here; I am currently working on an email pull for a litigation matter in which there is no leeway with the given deadline. As soon as I have this completed, the email pulls for public records requests will resume. I appreciate your patience and understanding.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Best,

    Allison Byers
    Public Records Officer
    City of Asheville

Good afternoon City of Asheville Public Records,

I am following up on this request because it hasn’t changed position on the email queue spreadsheet over the past couple of weeks.

Is there any update you can provide related to this request and when you anticipate it to be completed? I will plan on following up again in November if I don’t hear back before then.

    Thank you!
