Social Media Policy for City of Asheville Employees
I would like to request any policies or documentation related to the social media conduct of City employees. If any City departments, such as APD, have additional policies for their department, I would request those as well.

Hi Ben,
Thank you for that information.
I’d like to ask a couple of clarifying questions on the sender’s behalf:
1. The document you’ve shared is a marketing plan from 2011 that includes recommendations for how City of Asheville employees should utilize social media platforms in an official and personal capacity. I’ve noted the addendum at the bottom by Dawa Hitch, but it is still unclear to me whether or not this is an official policy. Can you please clarify whether this marketing plan was ever adopted by the City, and whether the City has any official policies related to the use of social media within the City?
2. Is there any part of the City’s personnel policy that specifies how employees should conduct themselves outside of the City’s official social media platforms (i.e. their personal social media accounts). For example, the City of Charlotte, NC has a very clear social media policy for City employees that specifies how they should conduct themselves while using the City’s official accounts as well as their own personal accounts. http://charlottenc.gov/HR/Documents/Social%20Media%20Policy.pdf. I’d like to know if Asheville has a policy similar to this.
Thank you for your time.
Have a great evening!Sunshine Request

Hello Sunshine,
Here is what we are able to provide with regard to a social media policy.
Thanks,
