Asheville City Schools Athletics salary info

Hi!

1. I'd like to make a request to know how many coaches there are at Asheville High School. I would like to know both paid and unpaid positions and names.

2. Additionally, I would like to request to see this information broken down by sport, and for every season.

3. I would also like to know if coaches are hired by the school district, the Athletic Director or the Principal.

4. Also, I would like to know how they are paid. Is it from the school district, or does it come out of the budget for the high school? Are coaches for other clubs within the school handled the same way? For example, there are coaches for club sports and the debate team... who pays, or are they paid, for the time they work with students?

    I hope all is well. This is a response on behalf of Dr. Denise Patterson, Superintendent of Asheville City Schools.

     

    Asheville City Schools has received your public records request. In accordance with North Carolina General Statutes § 115C-320 and based on the information you have requested, I have linked the following information about the ACS Athletic Coaches Salaries.

     

    Also, the coaches are interviewed and recommended by the Principal and the Athletic Director. This recommendation receives final approval from the Board of Education. Lastly, club sponsors and coaches are paid locally with district funds.

     

    We will continue to review and fully respond to public records requests to the extent permitted by North Carolina General Statutes § 115C-320.
