Hello City of Salisbury, NC Government [Records Officer],

I’d like to make a multi-part public records request for the following information under NC Public Records Law:

A. Please provide the total number of 911 calls received for "SHOTS FIRED" within the City of Salisbury, NC during the specific time period of 01/01/21 through 06/30/21.

B. Please provide the number of times the Salisbury Police Department have sent officers to "SHOTS FIRED" locations during the specific time period of 01/01/21 through 06/30/21.

** For both items above, I am only requesting to know a total number overall -- Please do not include personally identifiable information such as name, address, etc.

I haven’t received a reply back, and was wondering if you could please confirm that the request has been received on your end, and if / when it will begin being processed. Please provide a timeline or rough estimate as to when the request will be completed, and I will follow up around the time you specify.

Editor’s Note to Sender 08/19/21:

The original request we received through our site was revised for clarity before sending to City of Salisbury, NC.

Although it was a bit confusing as originally written, the sender did indicate that this request could be for Rowan County in some way.

Rather than ask the sender to resubmit a new request, in this case we are going to go ahead and send Part A. of the request to Rowan County, as indicated should be done by Salisbury PD. This will create a new request on the thread above, and will read as follows when sent in:

The 911 center is operated by Rowan County. You will need to make a request to the County for this information.

B. Please provide the number of times the Salisbury Police Department have sent officers to “SHOTS FIRED” locations during the specific time period of 01/01/21 through 06/30/21.

That data is maintained by week, so the information we have is from 1/4/2021 – 7/4/2021 because the information is calculated from Monday through Sunday. That total number is 248 for that period.
