(January 2020) Request for 12/14 “Be the Change” event info.

Hello [Asheville City Schools] [City of Asheville - APD] [Buncombe County Sheriff's Department],

I’d like to make a public records request for the following information:

Please provide the financial record and payments associated with the Be the Change event held on December 14 on the property of the Middle School.

Editor’s Note 01/03/20: The above request will be sent as 3 individual requests to Asheville City Schools, Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department, and the City of Asheville (Asheville Police Department).

If the same request is made to both Buncombe County and Asheville City Government within one request, this is treated as two separate requests, so it’s possible that one entity’s request status could get marked as “Completed,” while the Overall Status of the request is still marked as “Government Processing Request.”

This just means that Sunshine Request is waiting on the rest of the results before we can mark the request as fully “Completed” overall.

    Hello Sunshine Requests,

     

    The Sheriff’s Office contributed $15,000 toward the Be The Change Festival and a series of events and trainings that took
    place over that week.

     

    The Sheriff’s Office did not organize the Festival so we are not able to provide comprehensive
    info. We were one of a number of local organizations that promoted and participated in the events.

    After consulting with Asheville City Schools’ Finance Director, I can now share that Asheville City Schools did not financially contribute to the Be the Change event held on December 14, 2019 at Asheville Middle School.

     

    Following our Facility Use Fee Schedule, we did not charge to use our campus, as the event was sponsored by our local government with the majority of those in attendance being our students and staff members.
