Good Afternoon Neal,
As a follow up to our previous message last evening – We’d like to apologize for any confusion. We misunderstood your previous email about contacting Representatives.
To this point we’ve always been communicating with you (Neal) specifically on an email thread related to a request addressed to the “Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services”.
We do also happen to have the same request on our website, also addressed to the “Fiscal Research Division of the North Carolina General Assembly” and another to the “Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Justice and Public Safety”, creating 3 requests that were sent in by our team to the various entities listed. These were all sent in separately to their specific addressees, and were not all on the email thread we’ve been using to communicate with you to this point.
I think what you’re saying now though is that you are actually the primary point of contact for all 3 of those requests. Is that correct? And if so, that’s fine! Sorry we misunderstood – We just weren’t clear that you were referring to all three requests whenever we’ve been communicating.
Additionally, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our team will not be checking our PO Box for some time. We are happy to receive the files via flash drive in the mail (if that’s what is necessary), it just may be awhile before we can go pick up the package. Please address to:
Patrick Conant [Director of Sunshine Request]
PO Box 17391
Asheville NC, 28816
Please let us know once the package has been mailed.
Thank you for your assistance!

Hi Neal,
We received this email today: Copied below –
Subject: Address for PO Box Inbox
From: Neal Inman (Speaker Moore’s Office) 4:40 PM

I understand that you have been in contact with several House of Representatives members today. As I am the primary point of contact on this matter, I am again requesting a mailing address where I can send responsive records.
Thanks,

Please note – Our small team has not been in contact with anyone regarding this request today, or since your last email to us on October 20. We have only been corresponding with you on this exact email thread (above), and via email only. All updates on this particular request have been noted on our website at the following link: https://www.sunshinerequest.com/records_request/july-2020-request-for-all-public-documentation-10-01-19-07-22-20-related-to-caitlyns-courage-bill/
If you or any Representatives have been contacted by anyone other than our team at the email address [email protected], then this was not anyone on our team, and should not be considered to be an alteration or response in any way to the request we’ve been pursuing via email so far. It did not come from our team.
However, we will be happy to follow up tomorrow to provide the necessary contact information for our PO Box to fulfill the request.
Thank you for your time.
Have a good evening!

The General Assembly does not utilize the Google Suite of products in a way that would allow me to upload them to a Google Drive, and this will likely be too unwieldy for email. Similarly I do not use Dropbox.
If you could provide a PO Box address that would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Neal Inman

Good Afternoon Neal,
Thank you for your reply!
The results of all Completed requests get published on our website. If possible, we would greatly appreciate it if you could please send the requested records in a digital format, as we do not need printed copies of the documents.
Under NC Public Records Law you should be able to provide the records in a digital format such as Google Drive link / file, Dropbox, email, etc. If that is not possible for some reason, please let us know.
Additionally – we would typically be happy to receive the files via flash drive in the mail (if that’s what is necessary). However, our team is not going to the PO Box right now due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If sending a flashdrive to the PO Box is what is necessary, please let us know and we’ll be happy to provide our contact information at that time. It just may be awhile before we can go pick up the package.
Thank you for your assistance.
Have a great day!

I have largely completed the review process. Could your organization please provide a mailing address to send these records to via flash drive, or we can schedule a time for picking up a flash drive or paper copies.

Good afternoon Mr. Goodson,
We’ve received a new public records request via our website for information that may be available in your office.
I work for a website called Sunshine Request www.sunshinerequest.com. We built a site that makes it easier to make public records requests by filling out a simple form, and the results of any requests are posted on our site. This allows citizens to learn more about our local government, while saving staff from having to fulfill duplicate requests. If you have any questions about the project, please let me know, and I’ll be happy to answer.
Please confirm receipt to let us know the request will begin processing, and if possible, please provide a rough estimate of when the request may be completed. We will plan on following up again around that time. We originally sent this request to Rep. Donny Lambeth who then told us to reach out to you, please let us know if there is a more appropriate contact for this request.
Here are the details of the request:
Subject: (July 2020) Request for all public documentation 10/01/19 – 07/22/20 related to Caitlyn’s Courage Bill
Message: Hello Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services,
I’d like to make a public records request for the following information, in accordance with Chapter 132 of the North Carolina General Statutes:
I believe that the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence is conducting research into the effects that Caitlyn’s Courage has on domestic violence in North Carolina.
Please provide any such public policies, procedures, and relevant internal documentation your department has in place in relation to Caitlyn’s Courage Bill (during the time period of 10/01/2019 – 07/22/20).
Thank you for your assistance!“
