Hello Buncombe County, NC Sheriffs Office,
I'd like to make a public records request for the following information. Please provide the most responsive records as of 07/24/20:
Please provide all current BCSO employee names, salaries, positions and titles, including Detention, Civilian, Narcotics. I will assume that certain employees will need to be redacted due to their position. Please include the following:
1. Name, Rank, and Salary as of 7/24/2020.
2. Current command structure within the agency (For example: John Doe - Captain Patrol/Detention, Jane Doe - Captain Criminal Investigations, Jim Doe - Executive Lt / patrol/Criminal/Detention).

If that date is significant for some reason, then I am willing ask that hr pull the personnel record(s) for a specific employee or a few employees on that specific date.
(e) Nothing in this section shall be construed to require a public agency to respond to a request for a copy of a public record by creating or compiling a record that does not exist. If a public agency, as a service to the requester, voluntarily elects to create or compile a record, it may negotiate a reasonable charge for the service with the requester. Nothing in this section shall be construed to require a public agency to put into electronic medium a record that is not kept in electronic medium. (1995, c. 388, s. 3; 2004-129, s. 38.)

Thank you for sending this over! We’ll add this information to the request on our site.
However the responsive records seem to only be for 9/16/20, and this July request asked for positions and salary information as of 7/24/20 specifically. Can you please clarify whether you are able to resubmit the report only including the requested info as of 7/24/20, or are you only able to provide information as of whatever date the query is performed?
As an aside, please note – we did receive another request for similar information today. This request has been posted on our website, however our team has not officially sent in the request to Buncombe County Government. Please do not process any Sunshine Requests until they have been sent into your office by our team.

**9/2/20 Editor’s Note: Today we called Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department to inquire if there was a better contact than Aaron for public records requests. They told us to send them to Vicki Kuykendall, Crime Analyst and Records Supervisor. We will be following up with Vicki next week on Sheriff’s Department related requests.
