Hello Buncombe County, NC Government (Records Officer),
I'd like to make a multi-part public records request for the following information under NC Public Records Law.

For expedience, I have elected to combine two requests into the following:
A. Please provide demographic data regarding “Buncombe County participants in Food Stamp and SNAP programs.”
I’d like to know the total number of Buncombe County resident participants for the last three calendar years (2019, 2020 and 2021). Please break out the data by participant Age, Sex, Race, Ethnicity and Citizenship Status for each program during each year.
Please do not include any personally identifiable information.
B. Please provide demographic data regarding “Buncombe County Residents Who Receive Unemployment Benefits.”
I’d like to know the total number of Buncombe County residents who received unemployment benefits from the North Carolina Division of Employment Security through the North Carolina Department of Commerce for the last three calendar years (2019, 2020 and 2021). Please break out the data by participant Age, Sex, Race, Ethnicity and Citizenship Status for each year.
Please do not include any personally identifiable information.

This public records request was first sent to Buncombe County Gov (Kassi) on 07/19/22. Then I suppose forwarded to your office by Kassi and we received your initial reply on 08/24/22:
“BCHHS does not have the demographic data that is responsive to your request. We think that it might be possible that NCDHHS has this information. I have been working to find the right contact at NCDHHS and just reached out again to see how to best direct your request.”
