(May 2022) Multi-Part request for Buncombe County, NC Sheriff’s Office: BCSO Patrol Division staffing levels information as of 05/18/22

Good afternoon Buncombe County Sheriff's Office (Records Officer),

I'd like to make a multi-part public records request for the following information under NC Public Records Law.
Ref: https://www.ncleg.net/enactedlegislation/statutes/html/bychapter/chapter_132.html

This request is regarding “BCSO Patrol Division Staffing Levels.” I believe that a normal patrol squad may consist of 15-17 deputies, including the Watch Commander (Lt.) and Supervisors (2 Sergeants). Please provide the following:

A1. Please provide the current number of filled positions for each BCSO Patrol Division Squad (Adam, Baker, Charlie and David - the number of deputies assigned for each of these). As of 05/18/22 or present day.

A2. Please provide a daily staffing number for each of the above squads since 01/01/22 to 05/18/22 (or present day). Please do not include in that count supplemental coverage from other divisions/sections such as SROs or SCET. I’d like to know the number of deputies that are assigned to a patrol squad reporting each shift from 01/01/22 through 05/18/22 (or present day). I believe there is an electronic searchable record created for each deputy when they sign into the CAD system and check on via radio. Employee time records would also contain the requested information.

B. Please provide the number of current Patrol Deputy positions that are vacant as of 05/18/22 (or present day).

** If you are unable to fulfill any or all parts of this request, please specifically cite where a reason for denial is justified under NC Public Records Law. **

Thank you for your assistance!

Editor’s Note: Sunshine Request makes no claim as to the veracity of any statements or information contained in any of the requests, or public records, we receive.
