(May 2022) Multi-part request for Rockingham County, NC Government: Salary info for current employees making < $70k, and pay classifications study info as of 05/19/22
Hello Rockingham County, NC Government (Records Officer),
I'd like to make a multi-part public records request for the following information under NC Public Records Law.
Ref: https://www.ncleg.net/enactedlegislation/statutes/html/bychapter/chapter_132.html
A. This portion of the request is specifically limited to "all current Rockingham County employees who receive a salary less than $70,000 per year." Please provide the following:
1) Employee name, current job title, and department
2) Current salary
3) Highest level of university degree the employee has completed. (If a four year university degree was not obtained, please state so).
4) Number of years in current position. (Or, please provide “date of hire” for their current position).
5) Number of employees they supervise (if applicable).
B. Please provide the last 3 pay classifications studies, unredacted, and the company that performed the study.
For all items above, please provide all responsive records as of 05/19/22 (or on the date the query is performed).
If this information is already publicly available online or some other public format, I'd ask that you please send me a link to where the info can be accessed.

Following up on this again because I haven’t heard back on my previous email from 7/6. For reference, my email said:

I think that you may be confusing the above with a previous request.
As indicated above, your office recently completed a very similar April 2022 records request for “… Rockingham County employees who receive a salary of $70,000 or more per year”.
The multi-part May 2022 request on the email thread above is different, and is currently under review by your office since it was sent on May 19. This request called for “… Salary info for current employees making < $70k, and pay classifications study info as of 05/19/22″.

I will plan on making one more attempt to follow up on this request at the end of the month if I don’t hear back before then. If at that time I still have not received a reply, I will go ahead and mark this request as denied.

Thank you for your reply.
On our end — the Sunshine Request Team is flexible with the timing of fulfillment of our requests (those sent from the email [email protected]). As long as you are making reasonable efforts to fulfill our requests “as promptly as possible”, then you are likely in compliance with Public Records Law.
We understand that as long as requests are actively being processed and are not being intentionally delayed, then it is acceptable that they might take some time to fulfill (depending on the scope / simplicity). And it’s reasonable that some requests may take up to 30 days.
We will plan to follow up again around mid-June if we haven’t heard anything by then.

We just get a lot of request and it is a lengthy process but we work the best we can to get this information out with limited staff so I would hope the request or will be patient with the timing of the response.
