(November 2019) Request for Buncombe County, NC Sheriff’s Office traffic stop data as of 11/20/19

Hello Buncombe County, NC Sheriff’s Office,

I’d like to make a public records request for the following information:

1. Please provide an excel spreadsheet containing any and all data collected by Buncombe County Sheriff’s deputies to forward to the State Bureau of Investigation from 01/01/16 - 11/20/19 regarding traffic stops and vehicle searches.

Specifically, the racial profiling and search data sheet(s). In the event one does not exist and/or County government declines to provide the data, please submit all correspondence during the stated time period between the Sheriff, or his designee, and the SBI. Thank you!

2. Please provide an excel spreadsheet of the history of all calls for deputies generated by Buncombe County Sheriff’s office for vehicle stops. Please provide this as an excel spreadsheet containing the deputy’s name, date and time, and location. [Editor’s Note: No timeline was specified. 3. Please provide a list of all sworn employees with the Buncombe County Sheriff's office including their age, gender at the time of birth, self-identified race and ethnicity, and current salary [Editor's Note.     Hello Sunshine Requests,

     

    Please find the attached spreadsheet that includes info on all traffic stops conducted by the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office from 01/01/2016 to 11/20/2019.
    I understand that the info in the document does not exactly match what is being asked for, but we do not have the ability to export the exact information requested into a spreadsheet format.

     

    Hopefully the data provided allows the person(s) who requested the information to be able to gain the insight into vehicle and traffic stops that they are seeking. We are certainly willing
    to work with follow-up requests as needed if this doesn’t provide the desired data.

     

    3. Please provide a list of all sworn employees with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s office including their age, gender at the time of birth, self-identified race and ethnicity, and current salary [Editor’s Note. No timeline was specified. We’ll interpret as, “Please provide all responsive information as of 11/20/19”].

     

    I do not have information for item #3 of this request. We do not track “gender at the time of birth” or “ethnicity” as part of our personnel records so I cannot complete this part of the request.
