  Thanks for your request dated 11-30-22 about proceeds from the Taylorsville Apple Festival for the schools in Alexander County.

   

  Information provided to our finance officer, Sharon Mehaffey, from Gina Kay Honosky, Executive Director, Taylorsville Apple Festival, Inc shows donations from 2008 to 2019 to the schools were $173,550.

   

  We do not have the amount given to each school because the Apple Festival writes checks to the schools directly based on the schools’ enrollment. The bookkeepers place the money in the individual school’s benevolence accounts. The money does not come to the Central Office.

   

  The festival was canceled in 2020, 2021, so there are no proceeds to report for those years.
  The Alexander Central High School JROTC has received $13,050. We believe they help with cleaning up after the festival.

   

  As of December 1st, 2022 , the date of this records request response, the organization has not yet given money to the schools for the fall 2022 festival.

  Thank you for your response and for providing additional info about making records requests. For whatever reason our team was not able to easily locate that info when originally submitting our request to your staff on 11/07/22.

   

  I reviewed the public records request process, and form, at the links you’ve referenced:

  This request form does not seem to apply to our case. I have the following feedback to relay:

   

  – We cannot agree to pay any potential fees for records, nor are we asking to come in person to make copies of, or inspect, records. Additionally, we are not requesting any student records. This is a simple request for what should be easily accessible financial records.
  – It is also unclear whether the request form on your website has a character limit etc.
  – There is also language on your site that suggests your office will not provide “electronic records”?
