[See Editor’s Note](October 2021) Request for Transylvania County, NC Tourism Development Authority and Chamber communications 02/01/2021 – 08/29/2021

Hello Transylvania County, NC Tourism Development Authority (Records Officer),

I'd like to make a public records request for the following information under NC Public Records Law:

Please provide all written and electronic documents [emails, memorandums, and meeting minutes] concerning the TDA separating from the Brevard / Transylvania Chamber of Commerce.

Specifically -- I'm requesting all correspondences sent to and sent from any members of the TDA, the Chamber, as well as the public, and all public documents, which discuss the TDA's decision to separate from the Brevard / Transylvania Chamber of Commerce.

All of the responsive records requested should include the specific time period of 02/01/2021 through 08/29/2021.
-----

Additionally -- Please provide all .pdfs, files, attachments, videos, hyperlinks, etc. that are indicated within the responsive records. For example: A .pdf that is an attachment within an email, should also be provided as a document along with the responsive emails.

Please include all of those additional documents where applicable, as relates to the requested information above.

If the records are ultimately too large to send via emailed file share, I'd ask that you please create a public Google Drive folder / link or some other file format to transfer the files electronically.

** If you are unable to fulfill any or all parts of this request, please specifically cite where a reason for denial is justified under NC Public Records Law. **

Thank you for your assistance!

Editor’s Note: Sunshine Request makes no claim as to the veracity of any statements or information contained in any of the requests, or public records, we receive.

Editor’s Note 10/05/21: We apologize for the delay in processing and publishing this request on our site. Sunshine Request is a project built and run by a small team at PRC Applications. We run the site in addition to our primary business. While we will always do our best to process and follow up on requests as quickly as possible, there may be occasional delays, depending on our availability in a given week or month.

The submission above has been revised for some clarity.

Sunshine Request will not fulfill the following types of requests:

☀️ Requests that are only informational questions [rather than a specific request for public records], and requests that are not addressed to government entities.

☀️ Requests that are incomplete, non-specific, or vague.

Before submitting a request, please take a moment to review our tips for How to make a request. While we do proofread requests we receive for general spelling and clarity, we may choose not to fulfill the request if it is incomplete, or it is unclear what specific information the requester hopes to receive. In this case, the sender may rewrite and resubmit the request.

☀️ Please be specific:

It is important that what you are requesting is specific and reasonable, and is an actionable records request. Please specify the exact records you’d like to receive, rather than any “possible” or “potential” info that could be searched. Remember that the larger your request, the more time it usually takes to fulfill. Specificity will often help reduce the amount of time needed to process the request.

It is important that a request has a clearly written and complete Subject and Message, and also specifies the Government Entity (or entities), City and/or County, and State to which the request should be sent. If applicable, please also include any responsive timelines for the info that should be requested.

Before submitting a request, please take a moment to review our tips for How to write and make a successful request. If you have additional questions about our site or how to make requests, please check out our FAQs or Policies page.

This email is to acknowledge receipt of the below request.. The TCTDA will work on the fulfillment of this request based on the parameters laid out in the email. We are a small organization with limited staff, so it will likely take weeks to compile this information. The Brevard/Transylvania Chamber is not a public organization so it is not subject to public records requests and will not be providing information. It is worth noting that certain staff members, like myself, are heavily involved in TCTDA work but actually work for the Chamber. In those cases, all of our communication does fall under public records requirements, so that information will be included, whether it is to/regarding members of the TCTDA board or the Chamber board. Let me know if any questions.
